Wrigley Field is a historic baseball stadium located in Chicago, Illinois. It is the home ballpark of the Chicago Cubs, one of the oldest and most beloved baseball teams in the United States. Wrigley Field has a seating capacity of approximately 41,000 spectators, and it is known for its unique features, including its ivy-covered outfield walls and its manual scoreboard. The stadium was originally built in 1914 and was known as Weeghman Park. It was the home field of the Chicago Whales, a team in the Federal League. In 1916, the Chicago Cubs purchased the team and the ballpark and renamed it Cubs Park. It was later renamed Wrigley Field in honor of William Wrigley Jr., the owner of the Chicago Cubs at the time.
Over the years, Wrigley Field has undergone numerous renovations and upgrades. In 1937, the famous ivy was planted on the outfield walls, giving the stadium its iconic look. In 1988, the manual scoreboard was added, which is still operated by hand today. In recent years, the stadium has undergone major renovations, including the addition of new seating areas, a larger video board, and improved player facilities.
